The adjustment is a safe, natural, noninvasive procedure used by the chiropractor to restore and improve health. Learning the art of adjusting is a skill that requires years of study and practice. Chiropractic doctors are the only health care professionals trained to deliver the chiropractic adjustment. Spinal adjustments by any other individual or health care professional have been shown to be dangerous and less effective.

In basic terms, the spinal adjustment or spinal manipulation refers to the process in which your chiropractor skillfully applies controlled force into one or more “subluxated” vertebrae of the spine. The adjustment is also frequently used in the pelvic region to normalize the sacroiliac joints. The adjustment is usually delivered using the hands or through the use of a specialized mechanical tool.

Adjusting helps correct vertebral subluxations. Correcting subluxations reduces pain and inflammation, reduces muscle spasm and tension, normalizes spinal biomechanics and more importantly, can remove nerve irritation and interference which can improve overall health and wellness of the individual. Chiropractic adjustments are the only way to eliminate vertebral subluxations and only the chiropractor is trained to detect subluxations and deliver the chiropractic spinal adjustment to correct subluxations.

In addition to adjusting the spine and pelvis, almost every other joint of the body can be adjusted by the chiropractor. This includes the joints of the hands and feet, wrists and ankles, elbows and knees, shoulders and hips, ribs and the jaw. Like the joints of the spine, joints in the extremities can also become misaligned and fixated. Chiropractic adjustive techniques can restore and enhance extremity joint functioning which can increase the life of the joint and keep wear and tear to a minimum. This is of special interest to athletes who generally demand optimal joint performance from highly stressed joints. Adjusting provides an immediate increase in joint range of motion and also supplies the joint with nutrients, as motion is the only way to bring nutrients into the joint cartilage and flush wastes products out.

Dr. Foudy sees patients of all ages and uses a variety of techniques in his practice, including Diversified Sacral Occipital Technique, Cervical Traction, Thompson drop table, Cox flexion/distraction technique and Activator method.

There are many ways to alleviate your pain. Massage Therapy is perfect for those with mild to moderate aches and pains. We offer many types of massages to ensure that you get the care you need through our four experienced massage therapists. Our team is board certified and trained in various styles of massage therapy.

Massage Benefits

1. Reduce Stress

Stress causes an increase in cortisol. This hormone causes muscle spasms and knots. Massages help alleviate knots allowing the muscle to relax.

2. Improve Circulation

Massage loosens or elongates muscles and tendons. This opens constricted arteries, capillaries, and lymph nodes. Improving your circulation can have numerous positive effects on your body.

3. Reduce Pain

Pain can be a trigger from hyperactive muscle fibers that becomes knotted. Massage helps reduce and eliminate the knots therefore reducing pain.

4. Eliminate Toxins

Soft tissue can store up excessive toxins in your muscles and lymphatic nodes which become knotted called trigger points. Massage helps release those knotted trigger points therefore alleviating pain.

5. Improve Flexibility

Muscle knots and spasm can cause muscles to shorten. Massage therapy will loosen the knots and elongate the muscle fibers, helping your body to achieve full range of motion.

6. Improve Sleep

Massages will disengage muscle tension. This promotes endorphins that help you relax and feel better promoting restful sleep.

7. Enhance Immunity

Massage therapy helps stimulate lymph node circulation which recharges the body’s natural defense system.

8. Reduce Fatigue

Massage therapy eliminates lactic acid buildup from overworked muscles. This allows you to feel more rested and less worn out.

9. Alleviate Depression and Anxiety

Massage therapy helps release endorphins in your body boosting your mood and feeling happier and more at ease.

10. Reduce Post-Surgery and Post-Injury Swelling

Massage therapy helps regenerate healing by eliminating inflammation and breaking down scar tissue allowing better blood flow which speeds up healing.

Dr. Foudy uses a “computerized electromyograph”. This new technology is excellent in measuring and detecting where you have nerve interference. Non-invasive electrodes are placed on the skin next to the spine. The technique measures the function or “software” of your nerve roots. It’s like an EKG, instead of measuring the electrical function of your heart, it’s measuring the electric function of your nervous system. The test is valuable for proper diagnosis, prognosis, and patient monitoring.

Dr. Foudy also uses a high frequency digital x-ray unit, this machine provides less radiation and better quality. Once Dr. Foudy measures the software of your nervous system, he can correlate with the digital x-rays by measuring and analyzing the “hardware” of your spine. Digital x-rays are so valuable for proper treatment and accurate diagnosis.

Dr. Foudy also does a comprehensive spinal exam. You step on his “posture analysis machine” which measures how balanced you are. The bilateral scales detect if your weight bearing more to one side. Dr. Foudy also checks to see how level your head, shoulders, and pelvis are aligned. He also checks for pronated feet. Dr. Foudy does custom fitted orthotics to get your feet properly supported. Your feet are your foundation.

Dr. Foudy also does range of motion studies which checks for Cervical, Thoracic, and Lumbar flexibility, as well as motion palpation studies detecting where there is muscle guarding and hypomobility. Dr. Foudy also does neurological testing checking for proper sensation and muscle strength.

After all the examination findings are documented Dr. Foudy will go over a Report of Findings. He will explain what the cause of your problem is. If he cannot help your condition, he will refer you out to the proper specialist. If Dr. Foudy can help your condition, he will put you on a treatment plan explaining how many visits you will need if you want to get pain relief or corrective care, it’s up to you.
