For as long as I can remember, I have always suffered from back pain. As a child, I was diagnosed with scoliosis by my primary physician. I even had to wear a brace for a few years to stop the curve's progression in my spine. Over the years, the pain would come and go in severity. I chalked it up to daily activities such as holding and caring for my twins, bending over, picking up toys, giving the boys baths, sitting in front of a computer, but I could not stop any of these activities. I had to push through the pain and carry on. I would stand up and stretch, take a walk, use a heating pad, and take an over-the-counter pain reliever. For the most part, the pain was manageable, and it became normal.
It was not until recently where the pain in my lower back worsened. It became so painful that I uncomfortable sitting, standing, and unable to sleep through the night. I knew it was time to find help. I had heard about Dr. Foudy from my husband, Travis, who surfs with him. I knew his office was down the street from our house, which would make it more convenient for weekly visits. Before my first visit, I filled out all the forms. When I had my first appointment with Dr. Foudy, we had a friendly conversation about my medical history and all the current issues happening. Next, he took measurements, then weighed me to see if one side of my body weighed more than the other and took x-rays and sEMG scans. After the initial meeting, I was adjusted. That first adjustment was amazing! That night I had the best night's sleep in years. We set up a treatment plan, and I routinely saw him twice a week. After about 3 months of treatments which included chiropractic adjustments, rolling traction table, and at-home stretches, my scoliosis had gotten better, and the pain in my back was almost completely gone.
I am very grateful for Dr. Foudy and his staff. The entire Foudy Chiropractic staff is very welcoming, caring, and smart. I highly recommend Dr. Foudy to anyone that is suffering from pain. Because of him, I am feeling better than I have in years.
A letter to Dr. Foudy:
“I tweaked my back putting up outdoor Christmas lights the week of Christmas and could hardly walk and was in constant pain in both my neck and lower back. I came to your office on January 5, 2021 for a complete examination, including x-rays of both my neck and lower back.
You showed me the x-rays and I was incredibly surprised to see the damage done to my neck vertebrae and my spine in my lower back looked like an S Curve on a roadway. I truly was in pain and hobbled as I tried to walk.
You set a scheduled treatment program of therapeutic ½ hour massages with your table adjustments 2 times every week for the next 12 weeks. Just after 2 weeks of treatments I was walking and going up the stairs without pain.
I am just an old, retired football player who likes to stay active by jogging with my dog on my horse path every day and doing light workouts and weight training. And I am excited to tell you that after 4 weeks of treatment I started to jog and workout every day without Any Pain Whatsoever.
I could not sleep well when I had the pain, but now after 4 weeks of treatment, I am pain free.
I sleep better. I move better. I eat better. I jog and walk better. I feel better all the time.
My whole life is better.
At end of my 12 weeks of treatment, I signed up for another 12 weeks of treatments with the therapeutic massages is the only way to FEEL 100% BETTER, ALL THE TIME.
DR. FOUDY – YOU ARE THE BEST.
For the last three years I have suffered from a lot of different physical problems that have disrupted my life, school, and sports. When I was in 4th grade, I started having dizzy spells, my vision would get blurred, I had terrible headaches, and I would have to lower myself to the ground so I would not fall from the dizziness. We saw so many specialists and they could not diagnose me. These episodes decreased over the past years, but 4th and 5th grade were difficult. I was dealing with that and still trying to do well in my sports and dance. It was so hard not to have answers about what was happening to me.
In addition to that, my knees started hurting around the time I entered 5th grade. At first, we assumed it was “growing pains” but when it started to get so bad that I couldn’t even jog without pain we began to doubt our theory. After soccer practices and games, I struggled just to walk or put any weight on them for days. During the worst times, I had to use crutches to relieve the pounding, but the pain continued. About a year ago I started working with a physical therapist but there was no improvement. Six months ago, we saw an orthopedist who diagnosed it as Bilateral Apophysitis (Osgood-Schlatter’s). He gave me hefty knee braces with metal brackets that supported my knees and it helped, but I was still experiencing pain. He also had me do physical therapy, but it was not doing much to help the issue. The knee pain has been just too much to bear at times and at times it was very annoying. Then, during 2020, I had three episodes of Costochondritis, each lasting about 3 days. It was scary, because we thought it might be my heart, and at times it was hard to breathe. When I had the third episode my pediatrician recommended Dr. Foudy. My mom had just started seeing him for her back. When I met Dr. Foudy, he asked a lot of questions and I started to realize I had other things that bother me too. For example, whenever I would turn my neck too fast, it would spasm. I also suffered from allergies that sometimes kept me awake at night. I was just so used to sneezing, a running nose, and itchy eyes. Dr. Foudy said he could help me with these things. I really appreciated that he explained what was causing them and he wanted to address them so he could make me better. He got excited when he saw my x-rays. He saw the issues, but he knew he could help me. His happiness at the idea of helping people is really cool. Dr. Foudy also had me meet with his wife Melanie. She studied my walk, and my feet, and looked for reasons behind my problems. She saw my flat feet, how it was affecting my walk, what my legs were doing to compensate and why my knees hurt because of that. Together they created a plan to help me and Dr. Foudy started doing adjustments.
I am so glad that we found Dr. Foudy. My mom saw him because Dr. Sears had mentioned him before and she was getting so much help from him that my grandma started seeing him, then my dad, then me and my brother. My reason was prompted by the costochondritis and my knees hurting so badly but Dr. Foudy discovered I had a dramatic forward head carriage, a tilted neck and spine and the tilted pelvis. He was so quick to make a treatment plan with adjustments, get me a lift for my shoe and find the causes behind all the issues.
I have improved in so many ways. Lately, I have not had any issues with dizziness, my chest, neck, or vision. I still have some allergies, but they are not as bad as they were. I just had my half-way check after fifteen appointments and everything is so much better. Everything evened out a ton. It did not take long for me to improve. Dr. Foudy was jumping for joy when he showed me my results. He really wants to help people and is so excited to get them there! My words of encouragement for others would be there is always an answer. Dr. Foudy is so resourceful, kind, smart, and welcoming. This place welcomes you like your family. It is a great environment. They can relieve so much pain in so little time. This is the place that can help you find answers to what is bothering you. Plus, they are the nicest people too!
I have always had some form of lower back pain which ebbed and flowed in severity. Various activities like bending over, bathing children, gardening, rearranging furniture and lifting boxes exacerbated it, but life had to go on and I wasn’t going to let it stop me. I would stretch, use heat, see an acupuncturist, and if I couldn’t take it any longer, consult an over-the-counter pain reliever. For the most part, this was manageable and I just chalked it up to a mix of genetics and the stresses of life.
It wasn’t until recently when a friend asked me if I wanted to climb Mt. Whitney that I needed to really address the issue. I went on a 16-mile hike and afterwards I felt crooked and the pain was so severe it was hard to walk or stand. Thankfully, Dr. Foudy has treated a lot of people and was referred to me by another friend. We did the consult, took some x-rays and he confirmed I was a mess. But thankfully he also said he could fix me. I was a tad hesitant since I wasn’t a fan of “cracking” my back and neck, but I felt I had tried everything and with my upcoming hike, I had nothing to lose. And - if I could be fixed holistically versus taking medication or surgery, I was game.
We set up a treatment plan and I routinely saw him 3 times a week. The adjustments were painless. I am always a bit nervous with the neck adjustment, but I just close my eyes, relax and trust that I am in good hands. Dr. Foudy is full of positive energy and very personable. He became excited about my upcoming hike and getting me well. And how could you not like Carmen and Karol? Always friendly, always welcoming.
I continued to train for Mt. Whitney. I added hiking poles, kept up with my stretches and, most importantly, kept up on regular treatments. I felt strong and confident that my back wouldn’t be what would stop me from getting to the top.
I had first come to Dr. Foudy when I was diagnosed with scoliosis from my primary care physician about 6 months ago. My doctor had written me a prescription for physical therapy but I wasn’t getting the results and relief I had hoped for. Since I live a very active lifestyle, a lot of the activities and stretches they were giving me were things I was already incorporating into my workout routines and I knew that I needed more alignment-focused care. After only a month of working with Dr. Foudy, my symptoms were significantly better and I was so pleased that I recommended him to my fiancé Tommy for the pain he had been experiencing in his lower back from years of intense physical activity.
On our first visit, Tom and I were shocked to see how aggravated our nervous systems were from being out of alignment. The whole team at Foudy Chiropractic gave us confidence with their knowledge and recommendations that we would see results we were looking for. After only 3 months of following those recommendations, I was pleased to hear that my scoliosis had gotten better by 5 degrees, the pain my neck and back was almost completely gone and my nervous system was less aggravated. Tommy had experienced much of the same results, his nervous system had almost no aggravations and his pain was no longer an issue.
Tom and I love everyone at Foudy Chiropractic. They always made us feel recognized and cared for. They will always be our recommended chiropractor and will forever stay in our family!
In 2015, I woke up in the middle of the night in excruciating leg pain. After a visit to the ER, numerous visits to specialists and various tests, two long years later I was diagnosed with Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction, Lumbosacral Radiculopathy at L4 and a Herniated Nucleus Pulposus at my right L5 – L5. I suffered no trauma, so the diagnosis came as a shock to me. I was debilitated and as a result my life changed from an active lifestyle to a sedentary one.
From 2015 to 2019 I was a good patient and listened to the advice of my specialist’s and followed their prescribed plans. After four years, four steroid injections and two years in physical therapy I was feeling little or no relief. Any relief I did experience was short-lived. I was over-weight, frustrated, in pain and felt as though I would never feel “good” again.
I had an appointment to have my car serviced and noticed my service advisor was wearing a back brace. I asked him what happened, and he told me his story. The difference in his story was he was on the road to recovery and wellness. He said he was being treated at Foudy Chiropractic and for the first time in four years I felt hopeful. At the end of our conversation I decided to make an appointment.
At my first visit I was greeted by friendly professionals. People that made me feel welcome and at ease. During my examination Dr. Foudy took my history and explained the process of taking x-rays of my spine and performing a surface electromyography test to measure the level of my discomfort. After evaluating my results, he crafted a tailor-made plan and put me on the path to wellness. He assured me if I followed his advice, I’d get back to the active lifestyle I left behind.
In the four short months I have been in Dr. Foudy’s care I feel like a new, and 95% of the time, pain free person. He and his staff have taught me healthy habits like stretching, good posture, the benefits of massage and how to take cues from my body. I am aware, listen and modify my behavior before the pain starts. As a result, I am hiking, taking long walks and feeling better every single day. During my last visit I was amazed at the results of the surface electromyography test. It proved what I was feeling. Most of my discomfort was gone. Gone!
I am very thankful for the entire Foudy Chiropractic staff. Thank you all, so very much, for your expertise, professionalism, support and encouragement. Because of you, I am living the life I left behind in 2015. An active, healthy one!
